New Leaders Project Summer Camp (ages 11-17)

The New Leaders Project is an exciting part of EqualityMaine’s Youth Initiative to improve the climate for LGBTQ+ youth by providing leadership skills, community building, and self-empowerment. Our 10th leadership camp is for LGBTQ+ teenagers who want to immerse themselves for 5 days and 4 nights along with other young leaders from across Maine.

At our last leadership camp last year in Saco, 28 teenagers from across Maine gained skills such as interpersonal communication, knowing LGBTQ+ history, knowing your rights, self-empowerment, event planning, and more. The young people who have completed this program have since applied these skills in their schools and in our work at EqualityMaine through public speaking, event planning, and holding programming committees.

Our 2019 New Leaders Project is taking place from August 12th to August 16th at Unity College, and we’re looking to host 50 youth, ages 11 to 17, at no cost to the youth participants! Click HERE to apply!

If you’d like more information about our FREE summer camp please email our Program Assistant, Maya Williams at mwilliams@equalitymaine.org
